This Drawing Rig was designed and built here at the University's shops. Two spools turn with different revolutions and therefore the material is continously drawn. The drawing ratio is determined by the revolution ratio. Each spool is driven by a step motor and 5:1 gear, a frequency generator controls the speed and two displays allow an easy reading. The ratio is displayed on an extra display. The material is streched over a temperature controlled hot plate and in addition the stresses during drawing can be measured and monitored by a 2N load cell. Commonly used for fiber drawing it can be employed for films as well.
