The doctor blade machine was designed and built at the University of Bayreuth with support of the 'Fonds der Chemischen Industrie'. Doctor blades are driven over the substrate with a constant speed, adjustable and controlled by stepping motor and a computer. In addition to commercial machines, the substrates can be heated up to 280 C with a precision hot plate. The moving parts are especially designed for the processing of high viscous fluids and melts.
