This solution spinning line was developed at the ETH Zurich in the group of U. Suter for spinning highly viscous solutions as Kevlar® spin dopes. Here at Bayreuth it was rebuilt based on their blue prints, however software and electronics are redesigned. The line is comprised of an outer cage holding the inner cage. Latter is adjustable in height to control the air gap for spinning and holds the entire machinery such as drive, gear, pressure transducer and solution cylinder. Special spinning dies/orifices with 50 µm bore diameter are needed. The fiber is guided through a coagulation bath and wound up by a motor controlled spool. SolutionSpinning
