Chromatography

High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
The Agilent 1100 series HPLC is equipped with a UV-Vis detector (190 – 600nm) and enables the separation of reaction mixtures using Chromolith Eclipse and Zorbax reversed phase columns. Mixtures of water with polar organic solvents are typically used.

Flash chromatography
The Pure C-810 Flash chromatograph from Büchi enables a fast and time-efficient separation of reaction mixtures using normal phase or reversed phase silica gel columns. Compared to manual column chromatography, gradient eluent compositions can be set much more precisely. In addition, simultaneous detection of the eluting compounds at different wavelengths is possible via UV-Vis detector (200 – 800 nm). The UV signal can be monitored in real time. In addition, subsequent thin-layer chromatography is not necessary due to simplified product fraction detection.

Preparative gel permeation chromatography
The Shimadzu LC-20 AP is available for carrying out preparative gel permeation chromatography, which is equipped with an autosampler, fraction collector and a refractive index detector and UV detector. THF is used as the mobile phase. Depending on the stationary phase, a separation of up to 400 kDa is possible (PLgel 100Å: <5000 Da, PLgel 500 Å: 500 – 2500 Da, PLgel MIED-D: 200 – 400,000 Da).
